The room
Somewhere dark and unhurried
How to order at this bar, what happens if you bring six people, and what is behind the door at the back.
How to order here
Say bitter, stirred, spirit-free.
The list is short on purpose. If nothing on it is what you’re after, tell the bartender what you’re in the mood for — bitter, stirred, something long, no spirit at all — and they’ll build something to your taste. That’s the thing we’re actually known for.
Spirit-free gets the same care and the same glassware, at $12. Nobody is drinking a lemonade apologetically in this room.
The private room
For a group that wants the door closed.
Behind the back bar there is a room with a door, the same cocktails, and no one else. It gets quoted rather than priced per head — send the date, the headcount and how long you want the door closed, and we’ll put a number on it.
For parties of six or more out in the main room, send the date and we’ll hold the table. Fewer than six, walk in.
Worth knowing
Three things about the room.
Open five nights, 5pm to 2am.
Wednesday through Sunday. The last hour is the best one.Tables held for six or more.
Smaller than that, walk in — there is usually room at the bar.The cabinets came with the building.
It was a pharmacy. They still hold the bottles.
Booking the room
Three messages, start to finish.
There is no deposit to pay before we have agreed what the evening is.
-
Send the date and the headcount
And how long you want the door closed. That is everything we need to know what the evening costs.
-
We quote it
A number for the evening rather than a price per head, so it does not change if two people drop out on the day.
-
The door closes
Same cocktails, same bartenders, no one else in the room. Bar snacks come through the same as they do outside.
The room
One room, one door, and no one else in it.
