Sourdough at seven. Cakes by Saturday.

A small neighborhood bakery run by two sisters and three people who get up before Petaluma does. Sourdough that folks drive up from Novato for, morning pastries that follow the seasons, and birthday cakes that taste as good as they look. Need one by the weekend? Call, and we’ll tell you straight.

Custom cakes

Need a cake by Saturday? Call and ask.

Most of the cakes that leave here are birthday cakes for the weekend, ordered by phone the week before. The most-ordered is the naked lemon-berry cake — layers you can see, fruit on top, nothing that tastes like it came from a grocery store. Custom cakes start at $75 and go up with the design.

  1. Call with the date, the theme and the headcount.

That’s everything we need to give you a number on the phone.

  2. We tell you straight.

If Saturday’s possible, we’ll say so. If it isn’t, we’ll say that too.

  3. Pick it up on Kentucky Street.

Everyone at the party will ask where it’s from.

“Dana made my daughter’s unicorn cake and it was somehow even better than it looked. Everyone asked where it was from.”

About the shop

It started on a porch.

Honestly, it started as a pandemic thing: Dana baking sourdough in her kitchen and selling it off the porch until it got out of hand. In 2021 she and her sister Jess opened the shop on Kentucky Street, just the two of them. Now there are five of us and two ovens, and we still remember people’s names.

People say the sourdough is the best in Sonoma County. Some of them drive up from Novato every Saturday to prove it.
